More information on Diabetes:
Do you have eye disease? The only way to know is to have a dilated screening eye exam. Diabetic eye disease has no warning signs. If you have diabetes, please call our scheduling desk and make your appointment today. Early detection can save your vision.
**Note: If you are already being treated by an ophthalmologist for retinopathy, we encourage you to continue seeing that physician for regular eye exams.
Diabetic retinopathy is a condition that causes the tiny blood vessels in the back of the eye to become blocked, leak or even rupture. Early signs can be blurry vision, floating spots or poor night vision. Fortunately, like many of the complications of diabetes, the progression of retinopathy can be slowed or even stopped with early detection and appropriate treatment.
Portland Family Practice is contracted with EyeTel Imaging to offer in office screening exams for our patients with diabetes. The digital images are sent to Wilmer Eye Institute at John Hopkins Medical Center directly after your appointment and results reported to your provider within 48 hours.
Your diabetic screening exam is billed to your insurance just like a medical appointment.
If you do not have insurance please contact our billing office for assistance.
Please call our clinic at (503) 233-6940 to schedule.
